It’s those times, right here.
Times we’ve seen in movies, times we’ve lived in our nightmares, times we’ve goose-bumped over with friends.
And now, it’s THE REAL THING. Not tucked “in the future”, not around the corner. It’s HERE and NOW.
We’re living it.
And suddenly many of us are without jobs or facing a daunting future. If you’re a first responder, your job is certain but your health, your life isn’t. We salute you for your service.
If you’re in the essential food, medical supplies, or emergency operations business, you’ll not only be in business, you might even be blessed with some extra profit. Bless your heart if you siphon that into the fundraisers that are helping out the sufferers.
I’m not referring to these difficult professions that operate, rain or shine. You know I’m talking about those the society and the economy can live without.
What can you do about it? Fight or flight. The former — FIGHT — creates an offshoot here. It’s PIVOT. How many of us are ready to pivot and make a dash for the right lane of survival and even growth? Not many.
The question is, “Are you among the many? Or with the not many?”
Your empathy, philanthropy, and positive zeal might open up new avenues for your skill and expertise. This is the time to get creative, to observe keenly, and to analyze, and to pray for the right option for you to show up. The stance is swift and precise.
Believe that all doors are not closed. Your brain cells are firing up. Crisis opens new doors. Trouble always is a blessing, helping us to rise like the Phoenix bird… from the ashes to the sky.
Trouble is a great teacher. It provokes quick thinking, the adrenaline rush, the cortisol kick that makes us jump out of our skin to discover something even better about ourselves.
Some of us, however, have the “deer in the headlight” syndrome but it’s more of a mindset than can be outwitted when you’re in the company of others who are planning to rise like the phoenix when staying buried in ashes is the apparent option.
In hard times, it’s of utmost importance to keep the company of dreamers who are willing to chisel their dream into the bedrock of hardship. They are our phoenix fellow birds showing us the way.
